Jaren’s Notes

Transform your ensemble with a refined and sophisticated touch of finesse, with our Italian silk Ustadi Foulard, boasting stunning African-inspired motifs for a polished touch to any outfit. The vibrant patterns and colours carry deep symbolism and rich cultural heritage of the continent, including Adinkra symbols, celebrating its beautiful mosaic.

Adinkra, an array of geometric images, symbolise poignant African cultural proverbs, poems, and aphorisms that convey cherished beliefs, rituals, virtues, and truths. Originating from the West African Asante or Ashanti peoples in the Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire region, Adinkra, meaning “farewell” or “goodbye” in the Asantian Twi language, would often be printed on cloth, metal, and pottery for special occasions.

Nsaa, which is an intricately woven fabric, symbolically represents the proverb, "Nea onnim nsaa na ɔtɔ n'ago” (He who does not know authentic Nsaa will buy fakes.) It exemplifies authenticity, excellence, unparalleled craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail, each a hallmark of the Savage Realm.

Dwennimmen, which translates as "rams’ horns," represents the harmony between humility and strength, illustrated by two rams locking horns. It signifies the idea that true strength should always be accompanied by a sense of humility, a principle that should be evident in every facet of one's existence.

Eban, meaning fence, embodies the protection, safety, security and love of one’s home or sanctuary. It celebrates the importance of family unity, respect, and joy.

Our Ustadi Foulard intertwines these ancestral symbols throughout this exclusive garment, ideal for weddings, formal occasions, or elevating your everyday attire as you go about your daily activities. Exude grace and poise from dusk til dawn.
